Our Top 10 Wins in 2015… What’s next?
We have all just come through some of the most challenging times in the history of Canadian environmental justice. I wish to thank you for staying strong with us through the last many years and for remaining so committed and passionate about protecting our planet. We have been fighting very tough battles in response to the previous government’s actions against the environment, the health of Canadians, and the very resources that sustain our lives. No matter the challenge, you have been with us.I want to remind you of some of the things we accomplished together this year, and wish to ask you to take a moment, and make a generous year-end gift to help Sierra carry out our ambitious plan for the year ahead!I am feeling hopeful and more committed than ever – because of our wins, and for challenges ahead.I’m thinking about our huge victory in the critical reduction of harmful neonicotinoid pesticides through our Save the Bees Campaign. Thousands of people signed petitions, shared information with their networks, and let industry and decision-makers know that our world needs the bees. When we work to halt proposals that would see untold and irreparable damage to our most treasured spaces, it’s not just about working against something. It’s about supporting better ideas. It’s about our values. It’s about justice. It’s about our unshakable confidence that doing the right thing is simply that … the right thing. Our work to stop the Energy East Pipeline – which would transport tar sands bitumen from Alberta to the pristine waters of the Bay of Fundy – is just such a campaign. The Bay of Fundy is one of the planet’s most diverse marine ecosystems. You and I are simply not going to live in a world where places like this can be treated as a dumping ground. An oil spill in these waters will be catastrophic, the damage lasting for generations. If we have your support, we can continue the work to stop this pipeline.Today, with your year-end donation, Sierra Club can move forward in 2016 with these and other critical priorities. The season for giving is upon us and your year-end gift will help us move ahead with our 2016 priorities. We are strategic in our campaign investments for maximum impact, and careful with your precious donor dollars. Each donation you make will go toward this great work in 2016.Please consider giving generously this year. Your donations make all the difference! With your help, we will move forward together – with determination, focus and our collective actions to make things better – in our own communities, our own regions, our country, and the larger world.I’d like to hear from you – share with me what you are thinking about for our work ahead.Thank you and warmest wishes, One Earth • One Chance
