Membership Sales Representative – Job Posting

SCCF is hiring Membership Sales Representatives. Must be qualified for Canada Summer Jobs.

Summary

Sierra Club Canada marching. Membership Sales Representative Job.As a grassroots organization, Sierra Club Canada serves its supporters via regional Chapters. We are seeking to build our membership and engagement throughout our community with the support of the Canada Summer Job interns.

Tasks & responsibilities 

  • Attend local community events to promote membership in Sierra Club Canada
  • Canvassing door to door to engage public in our work and increase membership
  • Collect membership sign-up information
  • Participate in regular debrief sessions on national canvassing team
  • Collaborate with local Chapter leadership and volunteers to identify public events where presence is needed
  • Coordinate Chapter-led events, such as hikes, land-based learning opportunities and shoreline clean-ups, as required

Skills, Competencies & Qualifications

This is a Canada Summer Jobs position – successful applicants must be 30 yrs or younger at time of hire. 

  • Love for the environment and commitment to making positive change
  • Interested in learning about Sierra Club Canada programs, goals, and activities
  • Ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Familiar with event promotion and coordination
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and, on several tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Take initiative in identifying and resolving problems in a timely and effective manner
  • Knowledge of environmental issues helpful but not required
  • Bi-lingual English French an asset but not required
  • You must meet the eligibility criteria for Canada Summer Jobs:
    • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
    • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and
    • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
